On Waiting

They say...
Not much about my days have changed, as of late.  Time passes by almost uneventful, which is a nice break from the events that have found their way to me in past months.  But there is something I miss about it.  I thought I would be head over heels for that moment when things slowed down, when there wasn't a constant worry about what was waiting to greet me around the corner, when I could relax.
I've come to find, though, that I'm not head over heels for these moments.  They seem stagnant.  Every day feels unproductive, and I feel stuck.  Every night seems never-ending, in the sense that I have to keep my mind from running wild until it allows me to sleep.
I've realized just how little intention my days actually have.  It's almost as if I'm on autopilot - simply doing whatever I have to to get through the day, whether it means something or not.  I could spend hours on wishes, wasting my time dreaming of them instead of making them come true.  I let my fears consume me, and prevent me from creating the magical days I wish to live.
They say...
They say...
They say...
In a few months, my life could very well become "un-stuck".  The magic that I ever-so lovingly dream of could begin to carve a deep canyon into my life.
With a little luck on our side, we'll begin to have more happy moments to remember than sad ones.  With a little luck on our side, we'll be moving away from it all.  New jobs are in the not-so-distant future.  A new, happier home is patiently waiting for us to make it ours.  However, I don't want to wait that long to dig my way out of this growing trench.  For if I do, I'll have wasted these wonderful months - this wonderful season - on waiting.

My First Attempt At Painting

My first attempt at painting...
My first attempt at painting...
Early this morning, I decided to make my very first attempt at actually painting something.  Mind you, I'm really not artistic in that way.  My dad can paint scenery like a dream, and my uncle is wonderful at pin-striping and drawing, but those talents seemed to have skipped over me.  I want so badly to be able to draw and paint though, so I decided to give it a try on this recycled notebook.
I doubt I used the proper manner for painting at all.  My brushes are old and worn.  I used those little bottles of Apple Barrel acrylic you use on wood and ceramics, because that's all I had.  It's not perfect, but I do think it's darn cute!
I'd like to experiment with water-colors a little, too.  I love how water-color paintings look.  They're so dreamy.

I'll be back later with my Day 8 photo!

My Mother

My Mother...
I wasn't able to share a post about my mom on Mother's Day, so I thought now would be a good time to tell you about this magnificent lady.
I found these photos of her in my old bedroom close to a year ago.  Growing up, my mother in her teens and twenties was a complete mystery to me.  I had only ever seen a few photos of her when she was younger in my grandparents' house.  So, you can imagine the joy I felt when I found these.  (And I hope that she doesn't mind that I kept a few of them. :) )
My mother...
It still amazes me how alike we are.  I had always thought I looked more like my father growing up, but after seeing old photos of her, I realize that I'm almost exactly like her.
And I am proud to say that, because my mother is a wonderful lady, and the best mother a girl could ask for. <333

(Also, a gracious blog reader let me know that my images are showing up as lines for her.  If there is anyone else having this problem with my images, please do let me know.  I'm working hard to get it fixed!  Thank you!!!)

I made a video...

Untitled from Allie Hayes on Vimeo.

This is the first video I've ever made/edited, and I'm pretty proud of it. :)  They're so much fun to make, so expect more of these to pop up here on the blog.

[song: 'The Funeral' by Band Of Horses.]

I'm going to try my hardest to be back tonight to revive '7 Things Sunday', but things are pretty darn busy around here at the moment. (And I will go into more detail on that later!)
Have a lovely Sunday!

I'm bored.

I'm bored of my blog, I'm bored of my apartment, I'm bored of my job, of my life.  I'm bored of my hair, and my makeup, (some) of my clothes, and my shoes.  I want to rip down and shake everything up.  I want to say screw you to my stupid job and spend my days creating and sewing and imagining.  I want to rip the pictures off the walls and start with a fresh, blank canvas.  I want to read books every day and escape to another time and place.  I want to forget about all of the crappy people in the world and spend my time with those who have beautiful souls and kind hearts.  I wish to forget about all of the stress and heartache of the past few months and move on to much happier times.  Because, despite everything, I know they still exist.  I want to be stress-free, worry-free, and as full of life as I can be.
I know I can't do some of these things right now, but I'll do what I can.

Hello, 2011.

Happy 2011, dearies!  I hope this year has started off wonderfully for all of you.  It certainly has for me...I couldn't have asked for a more inspiring start to my year.   Lately I've been thinking of all of the goals I want to achieve throughout 2011.  I have so many personal, crafty, and blog goals, and I thought I would share them all with you.  :)

Personal
1.  Make the necessary changes for a healthier body, soul, and mind.
2.  Organize my space and time.
3.  Grow more confident in myself and my abilities each day.
4.  Find my happiness.
5.  Move back to Oklahoma, to Seattle, or anywhere that's beautiful.
6.  Use my creativity to its absolute fullest.
7.  Read more books, listen to more music, wear more dresses.

Crafty
1.  Learn to crochet! (I started on this one last night!)
2.  Create a pretty, inspiring space for all of my projects.
3.  Further develop my sewing, scrapbooking, plastic canvas, and embroidery skills.
4.  Open my Etsy!!!
6.  Take a sewing and crochet class.

Blog
1.  Blog for me, not anyone else.
2.  Make as many new friends here as I can.
3.  Attend a blogger meet-up!  (Texas/Oklahoma blogger meet-up, anyone?? :) )
4.  Push back the fear I have of sharing the more personal aspects of my life on my blog.
5.  Develop my photography skills!  I want to have pretty pictures to look back on.  :)

That's it, so far.  I'm sure I'll think of many more.  There's so much that I want to do this year.
What are some of your biggest goals for 2011?
xoxoxo, Allie.

Our Magical Holiday.

Goodness, I can't believe how the time has flown lately!  It's already the last day of 2010!
I couldn't be more excited for 2011, but in the meantime, I thought I'd share photos from my holiday.  It was magical!

We took cheesy holiday photos.

Stuffed our stockings full...

Found the cutest ornaments...

And hung them on our very first Christmas tree.

I made some cute wintry pillows...

And decorated with pretty snowflakes...

We unwrapped our presents, started new traditions, and celebrated our very first Christmas together.

---------

And I would just like to thank you all for being patient with me in my absence.  My lack of posting has been awful (and unfortunately, I've lost a couple of followers. :((( ).  But now that the holidays are over, and work is calming down, I'm working hard to get back on track here.  (Including bringing back 7 Things Sundays! C:)
You guys are the sweetest!
Have a lovely last day of 2010!!!
xxoo, Allie.

The Only Hope For Me Is You

If there's a place that I could be
Then I'd be another memory
Can I be the only hope for you?
Because you're the only hope for me
And if we can't find where we belong
We'll have to make it on our own
Face all the pain and take it on
Because the only hope for me is you alone.

My Sweet Birthday Wishlist

With only 16 days left until my 21st birthday, (what?!) I thought I'd compile a little list of some of the things I'd love to unwrap.

I'd love to grace my little feet with a  pair of Darlingtonia moccasins.  Especially this pair (they're my favorite!).  Katie's moccasins are the sweetest I've seen.

I've been obsessed with Twinkie Chan's buttered toast scarf since I first saw it a few months ago.  So cute!

L.O.V.E this cowl from Holly Knitlighly.  It looks super soft and I bet it's so toasty warm!

I just adore this style of hat, and Susannah's is perfect.  I can't get enough of that color!

My Chemical Romance's newest album, of course.  Which comes out exactly one week before my birthday, and I will be first in line to get it.  :)

And I of course need a 'Danger Days' t-shirt to wear!

This U.O. cozy polar bear sweater looks so comfy!

And last but most definitely not least...
This little spool necklace from A Little Thistle is so lovely.  The antique look would match so perfectly with my Alice In Wonderland necklace.  :)

My little list could go on and on!  There are just too many pretty things out there.
Have a lovely night,
xxoo, Allie.

Happiness

A couple of days ago there was a charming list describing how to be happy posted on Talk 2 The Trees.  I realized today that I just can't get number 6 out of my head...

6. Do What They Love
Some statistics show that 80% of people dislike their jobs! No wonder there’s so many unhappy people running around. We spend a great deal of our life working. Choose a career that you enjoy – the extra money of a job you detest isn’t worth it. Make time to enjoy your hobbies and pursue special interests.

I realize that this may be easier said than done...but when I think about my life and what I want from it, I don't understand why it's necessary for me to be miserable working a job I dislike just for money.  I don't understand why anyone should have to.  We only get one shot at this, right?  Why not spend our time doing things we love and making the most out of every moment?
Maybe it's the string of retail jobs I've worked in my life.  I don't feel as though I'm doing anything truly important.  Maybe it's a naive thought.  Maybe I have a point.

Are you able to do what you love every day?  If so, what is it that you love?
If you aren't, why not?

I want to hear from YOU!

Happy Sunday!  It's such a beautiful day here in North Texas.  I can definitely tell autumn is well on its way.  :)  Sean and I are about to head off to a movie, but before I go, I wanted to ask my followers a couple of questions.

1.)  I would like to know what YOU want from my little blog!  What you would like to see more/less of?  Are there any topics you'd like me to discuss?  More crafts, videos, clothes, featured bloggers, music...anything!  Without you guys my blog would be nothing.  I would love to hear your input and any comments or suggestions you may have!

2.)  I plan on opening my Etsy shoppe within the next couple of months, and I was considering previewing a few of my items on my blog for review and possibly for purchase.  It would be amazing to hear your comments on my products before I officially 'cut the ribbon' on my Etsy store.  Is this something you all would be interested in?

I look forward to all of your comments and suggestions.  Every single one is greatly appreciated!
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday evening!
XO, Allie.

Art Is The Weapon

Sorry for the lack of posts!  It's been kind of a busy weekend.  I spent Friday and Saturday sewing Halloween pillows and making little journals.  I'll have pictures of those soon!
And on Sunday, Sean's mom had surgery, so we spent the day at the hospital.  She's doing great in recovery, and once she's home there will be lots and lots of girly movies and junk food eating, I'm guessing.  :)

But today I opened the mailbox to see 2 pretty packages waiting for me.  The first was for the giveaway I won on Susannah's blog.  Here's what I got:

And of course I can't forget...
This necklace was also included, but I had to put it on the second I opened it!
I received so many c-u-t-e things in this package, and my Babo is very happy to have his birdie back.  :)
Thanks, Susannah!

And in my second package, I found:
I initially wasn't sure why I received this package , or who it was even from!  (I didn't see the doily at first!)  But once I read the note left on the doily, I found out it's from a Secret Pal.  I was so surprised, because as far as I had noticed, that project had kind of gone downhill.  But thank you Holly, so very much!  It's such a lovely package!  :)

And some quick news...
-I got a new job this weekend!  (More details on that later, although it's really no big deal.)
-My Chemical Romance has released their first single off their new album.  It's been playing non-stop in my apartment. :)  You can listen to it here! ( I can go on and on, haha.)
-I'll be debuting a new blog design today or possibly Wednesday!  I decided that I need to simplify EVERYTHING for autumn, including my blog.  :)
-Remember the giveaway I had mentioned a few times?  Well, I know that I still have yet to post it, but I promise it's for a good reason.  I hope to have it up by the end of this week!

That's all for tonight.  I'm off to make brownies, and possibly more journals.
Have a wonderful night!
XO, Allie.

Anthology Magazine

I stumbled upon Anthology Magazine on Design*Sponge and I fell in love!  There are so many great things about this magazine.  Founded by Meg Mateo Ilasco and Ahn-Minh Le, Anthology is a new print lifestyle magazine chalk-full of inspiration.  (I find it so amazing that they're keeping print alive!)

You can check them out and subscribe on their website!  It's truly such a lovely magazine, you won't be disappointed!
(Photos c/o Anthology.)

I'll be back tomorrow with my Featured Blogger for the month.  I'm a few days late!  I'm getting settled back in from a 4-day trip to my parents' house.  :)
Until then,
XO, Allie.

Hello!  I have 7 delightful little things for you!

1.  I stumbled upon Shimelle.com, and there she has an article on 10 scrapbooking tools she can't live without!  Check it out!

2.  Pilgrim of DrawPilgrim has THE CUTEST house.  Can I move in?  Please?
Her website is too adorable, as well.

3.  Kim of Art Equals Happy shared a lovely tutorial on how to make your own cute cd covers!

4.  I love everything about this room from U.O.'s Fall 2010 catalog!  Especially that turquoise table. <3

5.  And this!  It's a Cat Cabin, also found on U.O.!  Dr.  Frankenstein needs this, I do believe...

6.  I l.o.v.e. this toast scarf from ModCloth!

7.  And last but certainly not least, My Chemical Romance has announced their new album!  I'm so excited!  I've waited 4 long years for this.

That's all for now!
xoxo, Allie.

Classic Film Star: Debbie Reynolds

Wow!  I've been absent quite a bit this week.  But today was my mother's birthday!  We spent the day celebrating and eating lemon cake, and I got to spend a ton of time with my mom.  :)
Anyways,  I watched a biography over Debbie Reynolds today, and she is just beautiful!  I had seen a few of her movies before...Singin' In The Rain,  Tammy And The Bachelor, Halloweentown!...but until now I never realized just how lovely she is.

Seriously, watch a Debbie Reynolds movie sometime!

Anywho, I'm off for the night.  I'm going to be in a parade tomorrow, hah!
Have a lovely night!
xoxo, Allie.

7 Things Sunday!

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I hope you've all enjoyed your weekend...and the start of football season, for those of you that watch.  (I personally am waiting for the start of basketball season!)
Anyway, here are my 7 Things I love for this week:

1.  Small Craft, the newest online class by Elsie of A Beautiful Mess and Rachel of Smile And Wave.  They'll be teaching you how to make tons of adorable crafts for little ones.  With all of the babies that have recently come into the world (or are about to!), this class is perfect!

2.  This fox hat from U.O. is one of my must-haves for fall/winter!  It's so cute, and looks super cozy!

3.  And another thing from U.O. that I must have for fall...this adorable house sweater!  I love it!

4.  These rainbow cupcakes by Kaylah are the most delightful little cupcakes!  I can't wait to try to make some of my own.

5.  All of the sweet little babies that have recently been born!  This little lady's momma is James of Bleubird Vintage.  Isn't she precious?  Also, my dear friend Michael's daughter was born last Wednesday.  They named her Eloise and she's simply adorable!
I can't wait to be a momma.

6.  Pumpkin pie...yum!
(photo via WeHeartIt.)

7.  One of my most favorite movies of. all. time.
(Photo via WeHeartIt.)

There you go...7 things I l.o.v.e.!
Have a lovely night!!!
xoxo, Allie.
