Scenes of Autumn

I snapped these photos close to a couple of weeks ago, when this part of the world was hazy and cold.  I often forget about the fact that this huge field lies behind my house.  It's a huge tract of land...almost 80 acres, I believe, that has been in my family for generations.  It's been such a part of my life since I was about 5 years old that I often overlook what a beautiful place it is...not to mention how excellent it is for photos!

Every photo above except the first was taken out in the field.  About a half-mile from my house is our beloved little pond.  I found a few old photos from when my great-grandfather had the pond put in, I believe in the 1930's-1940's.  It's terribly sad how low the water-level is in the pond, thanks largely to the unbelievable drought we had this past summer.

It's a magical place when you really think about it.

P.S.  See my plaid coat?!  It's a dreaaam.

The Trees Among Us

Foggy Autumn Days... Foggy Autumn Days... Foggy Autumn Days... Foggy Autumn Days... A little photo shoot...
My heart swells each year when the trees start to change. They fade from green to yellow, to orange, to red. My whole world is filled with the most beautiful of colors, and it's ever-so inspiring. It has seemed, though, that it has taken Autumn longer to find me the past few years. I don't worry, however...because I know it will come.
The fog in the morning touches the fields with the right amount of gloom, and the crisp air snatches your breath from you silently. I wear my mittens to keep warm, but somehow my hands still remain cold. Once the sunlight finally reaches through the fog, it casts the most beautiful glow upon the trees and the tall grass. It reminds me of why I love this season so much.

Our Visit To The Pumpkin Patch, Pt. 2!

Hello, dearies!  Today was a wonderful day!   We made a trip to Ikea in hopes of finding a new table for my sewing machine.  Not only did we find a new table, but we also found a new lamp for the living room, 2 new shelves, and some super adorable gnome wrapping paper.  (I just can't get over the gnome paper! So, so cute!)
And now, I'm being lazy while Sean puts the shelves together for me.  It's so funny listening to him while he works...whispering 'beautiful!' when everything lines up perfectly. :)  He truly is the most amazing fellow.  I'm such a lucky lady!

Anywho, enough nonsense.  On to part two of our pumpkin patch adventure!

The petting zoo was probably my favorite part.  There weren't very many animals...they had a baby cow, two miniature ponies, a miniature donkey, and two baby goats...but they were so, so sweet.

It was so much fun.  I'm hoping to go back again next year, and maybe start making it a tradition!

I suppose I should go assist Sean now. :)  Have a wonderful, wonderful night!
XOXO, Allie.

Today was a slow, comfortable day. It was beautiful out, so Sean and I decided to head to the park for a while and enjoy the fall-like weather.

A few exciting things:

- We're putting the finishing touches on my desk (yay!) and then I can begin moving everything into my craft room. I can't wait.

- I taught Sean to sew a pillow on my machine a few days ago. I was so proud of him!

- Is it too early to begin thinking about Halloween? I don't think so. Sean and I are considering two costumes: (from my most favorite movie) Edward Scissorhands and Kim, or Pacman and Mrs. Pacman. Not the most exciting costumes in the world, but still fun, nevertheless. :)

On a much more important note, today Summer from B is for... posted about her father, who, unfortunately, is ill. She's asking us to send a card, possibly some York Peppermint Patties (his favorite!), or maybe a dollar or two to help bring her father's spirits back up. You can find the post, along with his address, and a couple of buttons here. Send a card, and keep him in your thoughts!

That's all for the night. Sean and I are off to a family gathering tomorrow, then I'll be back with Color My World Saturday!

Have a lovely one,

xoxo, Allie.
