Home Sweet Home

I love how peaceful...
It's rather peaceful...

Sometimes...
This yellow house...
The little RV...
Charming.
On The Dirt Road...
Last weekend, when I went back to Oklahoma, I snapped some photographs of the town I grew up in.  I've mentioned this before, but when I was younger, I almost couldn't stand living there.  Now that I've lived away from the small town life, I couldn't miss the simplicity more.
One thing that I miss the most is space.  There's no room to escape from people in the city.  If I needed space growing up, I had a huge pasture behind my house to escape into.  All I had to do was follow a trail cut by my grandfather to a pond set deep in the field and out of view.
It's nice when the only traffic you're stuck in is a line of cars caught behind a tractor going down the highway.  It's nice to be able to see the stars at night.  I take comfort in seeing fields of flowers and patches of trees, rather than concrete and metal.
There have been many wonderful things about living in the city, though.  Many opportunities have presented themselves to me that otherwise wouldn't have been there.  I also plan on making my home in Seattle, the one place on Earth that owns my heart.  But there are times when it's nice to take a deep breath and escape to the middle of nowhere.
xoxo, A.

I currently live the small town life you speak of :) I am planning on moving to Dallas/Fort Worth and wonder all the time how I'm going to survive without all this space I've grown up with. I think the sounds are what I'll miss most...

Beautiful photos :)

This is so lovely. ♥ I love small town life and one day, Jen and I wanna make our home someplace like that. A little town outside of a city, so we have the quiet and simplicity, yet with an hour or two drive, city life. ♥

These photos are amazing :) I'm still living at home, and we live in a what used to be small town. The last couple of years some big factories and appartement blocks have been built :) they're so ugly! Behind our house there is still a large field left untouched. There are apple trees and the grass reaches up to your waist! It's lovely there :) and across the street I can enter a forest that reaches out for miles! it has all these hidden old fishponds ^^ I can't imagine myself living in a big city. All the rush and cars stress me out! Enjoy your weekend ^^ x

Oh I completely understand this. I don't live in a huge city now, but I sure to miss living 15 minutes away from my grandparents land. The country is good for the soul.

Collins: Thank you, and you're welcome! :)

Mindi: The DFW area is definitely a shock. There are so many cities crammed so close together...sometimes it's hard to tell exactly where you are! Let me know if you ever need a DFW buddy, though! :)

Chrissy: Yay, welcome! I love Katie from Hazel and Mare. She's such a sweetie. I'm glad you have you following along!

Angie: That truly is the perfect place to live - just outside of a city. I hope you and Jen are able to make your home in someplace like that soon.

Brooke: Thank you!! I'm hoping to go to school this fall for photography, in fact, so that's a HUGE compliment!

Nikki: It sound so lovely behind your house! I wish there were more places like that where I live. It's nice that our parents' houses are nice escapes, though.

Jamie: Thank you!

Amylou: The country most certainly is good for the soul. I miss the simplicity every day.

chantilly: I bet life in NYC can pretty insane. It's nice to always have that home to escape to, though, isn't it? :)
