Here's To December.

Untitled
Me, oh my this post is two weeks late.  I guess that's what Dead Week and Finals Week will do to you.  Please excuse me, dear friends.

Goodbye, November.  You were calm and lovely and still.  I grew another year older and another year brighter.  Someone entered my life within your days, and left it almost as quickly it seems.  I slowed down and hung on as you gave way to December.  Goodbye, November, until next year.

Hello, December.  Hello blissfully cold days, no homework, and of course, Christmas.  Hello New Year, happy people, a sea of yarn scattered around me, and the smell of mint chocolate.  If I'm lucky, hello to San Antonio.  Here's to you, December, and all that you bring.

Happy Holidays, dear friends.

P.S. I wrote a tutorial for the elf mitten ornament in the photo above, and you can find it here!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Untitled
Happy Thanksgiving, American friends!
Today was relaxing, magical, and full of good food.  I take for granted just how blessed I truly am every day.  We're all very lucky people to have bellies full of delicious food and homes that smell like pie.  This time of year gets my mind tumbling and tossing with thoughts, greatly because of Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the fact that I turn another year older in between the two (a week from today, in fact!).  It makes me want to hold onto everything that much tighter, because I know all I have to do is close my eyes for a minute, and the next year's holiday season will be here.

I remember when I was young and the years seemed to drag on.  At the start of a new school year, the next summer seemed ages away.  It seemed as though centuries passed in between my birthdays.  But now, it seems like the years fly by with no regard to the fact that I just can't keep up.  The fact that time is so fleeting these days reminds me to bear-hug it and everything around me.

On a side note, I put a plaid tie on Walter, my sweet cat, today...I wanted him to feel as fancy as the rest of us.  He looks like such a dapper little gentleman.

Enjoy your holiday, friends.

You guys...I update the shop today with a few new wintry things for the holidays!  I didn't get to create as many items as I wanted, but I'm over the moon with the new items that I have up now.  Mittens, scarves, cowls...plenty of warmth and coziness.

Hopefully I will have the opportunity to make each item in more colors soon...I want to have more color options listed for my lovely customers.  Each item can be made in a wide variety of colors, though...so if you see something you want in a different color, send a message my way!  I'd be more than happy to create any item in a special color for you.

It's been a dream creating these items to share with you.  Right now, I have a special coupon code that's valid through tomorrow for free shipping, international and domestic.  That means free shipping to anywhere in the world!  Hooray!  That code is THANKFUL1.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve, American friends.
And to everyone else, happy Wednesday.

A 'Rosie' Halloween

Untitled

I actually dressed up for Halloween this year, as Rosie the Riveter!  It was a awfully fun costume to prance around in, especially since I wore red lipstick for the first time ever. (And I quite liked the look!)
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday.  I just love the idea of pretending to be something completely different for a night, all while munching on delicious candies and watching scary movies.  All the Halloween nay-sayers out there are truly missing out.

This Halloween, I spent the evening with a dear friend, who dressed as a bandit, and we handed out Halloween candy to the little ones, drank chai tea, and ate corn dogs.  I'd say it was a lovely Halloween.  I'm already planning next year's costume... :)

Happy Saturday, friends.

Here's To October...

Untitled
October through Instagram.
Goodbye, October.  One of my three most beloved months.  You were full of brand new things, including finding out that I will have a nephew come Spring.  Fall is so fleeting, and I can't hardly believe one month of this glorious season is already over.

Hello, November.  Here's to my (23rd! Aack!) birthday, Thanksgiving, delicious, delicious food, and wrapping up my classes.  Here's to weather that may finally stay cold and the new knit socks I found for $3. Here's to blanketed skies and grey-toned days, more and more chai tea for me, and yarn always in my lap.

Happy November, dear friends.

Toast + Jam

Untitled
Untitled
When I found the pattern for this toast and jam scarf in issue 18 of Mollie Makes, I just knew I had to make it for someone (or myself).  Luckily, I have a dear sweet friend who is the right amount of quirky, enough to wear a toast and jam scarf.  And luckily, her birthday has just passed.  I'm late in getting her gift to her, but I hope that's okay with her when she's sees what it is.

This scarf was so much fun to make - I might just have to make one for myself anyway.
What have you made lately?
xo, A.

P.S.  Do any of you have problems with Flickr changing the coloring in your photos a bit when you upload?  Mine seem to be dulled down compared to the version that's saved to my computer.  Frustrating.
